Derby Talking Newspapers was 40 years old in 2014. We distribute our own miscellany of local news, supplemented by recordings downloaded, under licence, from the RNIB subscription library.
Derby City and District Talking Newspaper Association provides memory sticks with audio recordings to each client, who is loaned a playback speaker if required, free of charge. Currently it produces four publications on a rolling four-week basis. The flagship publication is a local news miscellany from Derbyshire newspapers, magazines, websites and some bespoke content, recorded by volunteers. The aim is to provide information, news and entertainment with a neutral or positive outlook. This is supplemented with compilations of magazines from the RNIB subscription library focusing on Sport, Women’s Interest and General Interest publications.
