Summary

The St Albans and District Talking News is a small charity which provides weekly news, local to St. Albans, Harpenden, Redbourn, Wheathampstead and London Colney, to  people whose poor vision no longer allows them to read.  The programmes also provide useful information about radio programming and audio described television schedules, as well as news of local events and other articles which it would otherwise be hard for the visually impaired to access. These audio programmes are currently sent by post to listeners' homes on memory sticks (USBs). They are also loaded, every Friday, onto our website for general access. We also provide, deliver and demonstrate simple USB speakers. Run entirely by volunteers, the service is provided free of charge every week of the year. Our purpose is to help those with poor vision to maintain links with their local community, and to alleviate
isolation.
