Roadshow & Winter Workshop programme

I am delighted to report on all TNF’s exciting activities over the last year, writes June Little, Internal Engagement Trustee.

Roadshows

We have now held four ‘Working in Partnership’ Roadshows in various parts of the UK, plus a Technical Roadshow – and there are more to come.

Peter White MBE – the TNF President and well-known radio journalist – has helped make the ‘Working in Partnership’ roadshows a success. He has opened each event, hosting a discussion with our all-important listeners from local TNs. Other speakers have included a mix of TNF Trustees, TN Volunteers and guests including local ECLOs, the CEO of DeafBlind UK, and most recently the Scottish Tech Army.

The ‘Working in Partnership’ roadshow programme started in Cheltenham in March 2023, with an event attended by all six Gloucestershire TNs as well as Worcester, Hereford, Somerset Oxfordshire and Wiltshire TNs.

Next stop was Norfolk in June 2023, where we worked with the local TNs drawing in members from a hundred-mile radius. We really enjoyed the day in Wymondham, where we were made so welcome.

In Spring 2024 the roadshow visited Preston – where the northern TNs joined us – and then we moved on to Scotland in June, where we had an incredibly warm welcome from TNs in and around Falkirk.

The technical event in March was held in Cheltenham, with the invite going to ALL TNs across the country. We had delegates from north, south, east and west and feedback shows that it was an incredibly successful day. This event featured leading experts who demonstrated and explained all aspects of recording to show how TNs can continually improve our service to listeners.

‘Working in Partnership’ roadshows in 2025 will visit Birmingham and the South Coast. There will also be a further ‘All things Technical’ roadshow.

I want to say a huge thank you to all the TNs and volunteers across the country who I have worked with on the roadshows. I could not have done it without your local knowledge and willingness to help. I have only met with kindness and commitment to providing the best service that we can to our listeners.

Winter Workshops

TNF External Partnerships Trustee Luke Howarth and I enjoyed putting together the 2023-24 programme of four zoom events and we want to thank everyone who attended or spoke at the sessions. If you missed any of last winter’s events you can still watch them online in the member area of the TNF website.

For winter 2024-25, we have another four winter workshops planned for you. Later this year we have Copyright on 19 October and TN Health Check on 16 November. In 2025 we have Technical Matters on 18 January and The VI World on 15 February 2025. Details are in the member area of the TNF website and we look forward to seeing everyone online. Feedback from last winter has been noted and we hope you will find the sessions useful.

TNF website

The Trustees are delighted to unveil our new look website, with the amazing TN Finder which is now so much more user-friendly and easy to navigate. We are still updating the policies and documents, but we hope you like the knowledge books which have all been updated and reformatted. It is an ongoing project, but we are steadily working through the pages.
